"Booking.com gave me a price with a genius level 3 discount . When I arrived they gave me a price 19 percent higher. Someone on the phone was rude and don't want to listen to me. I was told I will have to pay the higher rate for being a non refundable booking. That is very unusual because I lose out not them by that type of booking. Why pay extra 19 percent for that? The way the management handled me was.not right and they will do this to anyone. They insist on cash and luckily I had just about enough. If not I will be out there in the night looking for another room. This hostel is very old with appealing toilet facilities. No hot water. Food is very basic."

"The owners were really nice and helpful. Kitchen was well maintained. Outside seating was nice. Breakfast was good and had a bit more variety than other places. Very good value for money."

"The wifi was inconsistent and not really good. The showers didn’t always have warm water. The accommodation states that there is an airport transport unfortunately that’s not the case."

"The breakfast was great, the hosts very nice. The daughter shared her cookies with us so cute. There was a hot shower and fridge in the room, room was clean. Location was great with everything in short walkable distance (supermarket, bus station, downtown)."

"We stayed at Hostal Open House 1 night mainly for the price and location, which were both decent. However, the overall experience was quite disappointing."

"There was no hot water in the shower, no mirror in the bathroom and the room was very cold at night. The extra blanket provided was visibly dirty and clearly hadn’t been washed. The breakfast was extremely basic: just bread, butter and some cereal, not really satisfying. Also, they rounded up the price to the next dollar without informing us, which felt a bit unprofessional. If you’re just looking for a cheap place to sleep and have very low expectations, it might do the job. But don’t expect much comfort or attention to detail."

"Given the freezing night temperatures, access to the room where they had a space heater would’ve been nice just to sit in the evening, but it did feel like a private space that wasn’t for guests. The breakfast window between 8 and 9 o’clock was very narrow, not even allowing for moderate timing morning buses. They offered a takeaway breakfast, but that was a bit mediocre in comparison."

"The price was fair for what offered. There was a hot shower (not all places in San Pedro has it) And they also offered a breakfast. But the best was to meet Lorena, the responsible for cleanning and preparing the breakfast. She was very nice, attentive and helpful."

"Nice and wide room, super breakfast and friendly family running the place. A bit out of the central area but it may be a plus. A daily room cleanup is also included. Definitely good value for money"

"Friendly host, large comfortable room, wifi signal is good, location is close to the bus terminal and only about 5-10 min walk to the centre of town, and there is a store beside it if you need to buy water and other necessities."
