"Old hotel with lots of history. Nice and pretty undercover courtyards inside. Staff helpful and pleasant. Great location and the area felt safe for solo traveler. Breakfast good"

"I stayed twice in different rooms. First room was large and on two levels with two beds, staircase was wooden and quite slippy, room was quite tired and needed a bit of tlc. Second room was much better. Bar and courtyards are quite cold in the evening, so a fleece or jumper is needed"

"We had a wonderful view towards the basilica from our 4th floor room. The staff were all very helpful and hardworking. The location can’t be beat. A peaceful oasis."

"Although the staff were very friendly and there is obviously a language barrier, we were often found looking for staff to either order a drink or order dinner. Then after ordering we were still waiting as they went away not understanding what we had asked for."

"Temperature control is a bit of a challenge. When it’s cold it’s really cold and when it’s really hot the aircon is a bit variable."

"Stunning old world villa property giving us a taste of a bygone era. We were given a choice of rooms and what we chose was better than expected. Filtered water recepticles just outside our room to top up drinking water when needed. The meals were good value and waiter service was friendly . We had a very early airport transfer booked through the hotel, and the porter was waiting outside our door to help with luggage when we emerged at 4am. We have stayed in some very expensive hotels around the world, and have never had this level of service anywhere else! Top effort!!"

"It is an older building and there was a water problem that took a while to fix. Has to happen sometimes."

"Fantastic hotel in a perfect location. A beautiful colonial building, converted to a charming hotel. The staff were fantastic, especially Roger on reception, who helped us very much. Nice breakfast and the welcome drink was a lovely bonus!"
