"This is a great place to stay if you want to visit Semuc Champey and are looking for something more than a hostel (although I believe there are also dorm rooms). It's situated at the bottom end of town, down a steep hill. Our room was comfy and clean and had a nice porch area to sit outside. The staff are super helpful and will help and advise you to get transport to the nearby attractions as well as booking onward shuttles. Tuk-tuks to and from the bus station were paid by the hotel. There aren't many options for eating out in Lanquin so we had breakfast and evening meal on site each day. The food was excellent. There is also a pool and bar, special mention to Brian the barman who made us feel very welcome, although all the staff were wonderful. Would definitely stay here again."

"We absolutely loved our stay here, it’s so much nicer than it looks in the photos, such a great relaxed and cosy atmosphere with extremely hospitable and caring staff. There’s flowers and fruit growing on the trees, you’re in the middle of the mountains, it’s a really beautiful place. Breakfast was absolutely delicious. Everything surpassed our expectations!"

"Little sound proofing in the room so although the property is generally quiet, the sound of roosters and dogs barking can wake you up in the morning. Despite this we still slept well overall."

"The hotel exceeded my expectations and especially due to amazing staff , Adan and Ruben thank you:) They were very attentive and listed to guest's questions and needs. Food at the restaurant was also of very good quality and the prices were fair. I especially loved smoothies with fresh fruit like pineapple and strawberries! My room was spacios, there was a hammock nearby to chill - which is a great idea. So green, chill - maybe becuase of rainy season but hotel was almost empty and I enjoyed the silence."

"We were looking for something to relax for a few days with A/C, a good hot shower, wifi and a pool, close to Semuc Champey. The Viñas hotel generally checks these boxes - but see below. The location is indeed perfect if you want to visit Semuc Champey, as we did with our own car. The staff is very helpful, kind and helped us with all of our questions. Our room was lovely and spacious. The town itself is lively and an experience at nighjt - we recommend Donde Rodin for delicious, cheap and easy food prepared by lovely people."

"Unfortunately, the waterheater in our room was broken during our stay, so that we only had cold water. We were offered to move to another room until it was repaired, but that would have meant less space. As it wasn´t repaired on the second night, we were offered to shower in another room with working hot water. Unfortunately, the electricity was down in the whole town for one entire day (which seems to happen more often than not), which meant no wifi or A/C. Of course this is not the hotel´s fault, thus, no point reduction. They were also very kind and offered us a free breakfast on the second day. The hotel is definitely a party location. While the hotel warns on their website that it can get loud on weekends, we experienced it also gets loud during weekdays. The pool is not only used by hotel guests, but can also be used by other, paying guests. These brought their own speakers, which led to us hearing music from three different sources at once - the pool, the bar, and the restaurant. At night, somebody started playing the piano in addition, which was really nerve-racking. To top it off, one of the pool guests peed in the bush right in front of our hotel door. Again, not the hotel´s fault, but be aware you might not get the tranquility you hope for, nor are you guaranteed working hot water / electricity if you decide to stay here. That being said, this might be true for most hotels in Lanquín!"
