Guacimo Lodge

"I had a great time at Guacimo lodge! As someone in the airline industry I stay in a great deal of hotels every year many that are top star quality. Guacimo lodge is one of the best best places I have stayed. The place is rustic and beautiful. The staff are attentive and fantastic and beat many of the hotels I stay at. Nothing is too much trouble they really do look after your every need. No matter if it’s a tour you want to go on or onward travel plans they help in every way they can. The menu at the lodge is small but delicious And perfectly cooked. Breakfast in particular was fresh and delicious. I couldn’t recommend the Guacimo lodge more it is a fantastic place to unwind and get back to nature. I look forward to staying again in the future."

"It was a magical place! The staff was so caring, everyone did the most they could to help us create a special memory. Even without speaking spanish you could get around here and even if there are not a lot of tourist in the area and the way to the lodge is a little adventure we always felt absolutely secure! Manuel helped us get to the lodge and to our next place so we didnt have to organise anything. It was worth every dollar!"

"Incredible location away from civilisation. Close to the indomaiz biosphere. All home comforts and excellent staff who went above and beyond. Marjiory in particular made our trip entirely seamless. Ask her to organise Orlando as your guide (we saw more wildlife in 2 hours than over multiple days in other jungle lodges) and get Jose to expertly drive your boat."

"Make sure to ask for tour guide Orlando to do with you all activities at the lodge! He is a local guide with great experience. The property of the host is an absolute unique area in the widlife refuge of Indio Maiz; the lodge is very beautiful and in good shape. We also received a free upgrade to a bigger cabin. The personell is very friendly and helpful."

"Be aware that the lodge comes with its price. Against the background of the unique location, is is however reasonable as all food, water etc. has to make a several hour lasting trip by boat."

"The open bungalows (pretty well sealed against Moskitos) is quite comfortable and especially if you are in one at the edge of the property, you really are sleeping in the jungle. There will be no reception and no WiFi. The location is great, especially if you want to go birdwatching early in the morning. The manager and the staff are super nice and helpful. It’s best to bring sufficient cash, as credit cards might not work that day. The pool is in good shape. With a view on the river."

"We had an excellent stay in Guacimo. The place itself is beautiful and the facilities were excellent, however it was the staff and excursions that made the trip so special. Manuel had been so helpful corresponding with us before the stay about the logistics of arriving at Guacimo. Our boat from San Carlos was full by the time we arrived and so Guacimo helped by sending their boat to collect us, without which we'd have been stuck for the night in San Carlos. They helped us arrange to see everything that we wanted to whilst there and gave us some great advice on where to go in Nicaragua after our stay at Guacimo. Gustavo was a brilliant guide and taught us so much about the local history & wildlife. Franklin was there to help with any and all queries we had and was great with helping us arrange our onward journey and Margarita cooked us the most wonderful food!"

"Hard to pin point anything. The whole experience getting to and then staying here made for lifetime memories. Two things stand out, though: communication about logistics getting there was a 10/10, the other being the lovely yet unobtrusive staff. If you have a little adventure in you, I highly recommend this place."

"It’s a unique place on the Rio San Juan, the cabins are immersed in nature and with nets all around, it’s really nice to hear all the sounds of the forest. The staff is really really nice and made everything to make us comfortable."

"For the price point the rooms are offered you’d expect some more attention to details and maintenance of the facility to be a bit more on point: some examples are the wooden steps to get to the lodges, maintenance of the pool area, room lighting). Also we found the food and the activities largely overpriced compared to anything else in Nicaragua."
