"This was one of the nicest places we've ever been on holiday, the sleeping room was a very nice temperature and pleasant to stay in (outside it was 34 °c), it was close to the shops and on walking distance to the river for a nice swim. Many thanks to the hostess Florence who made our stay even better with the nice breakfasts, good advice on activities and for having such lovely cats. :)"

"Les gites de la Grande Borderie is an agricultural complex that, in addition to the owners' lodgings, also houses three beautiful gites. The whole is idyllic and is located in a magical place in the middle of the marshes of the French Vendee. The peace and space are unparalleled! Our eye immediately fell on the beautiful and detached l'etable, with its beautiful glass front. We were privileged to stay there for six wonderful and relaxed days! We can be very brief about the design and quality of the house, the terrace and the amenities. Everything is really excellent! The abundance of nature comes with a few minor inconveniences. Despite the beautiful weather, there was a real strong wind. There were also many flies. We regretted that there was no insect screen on one of the windows in the living room."

"Perfectly located - rural feel yet only 15 minutes away from Chinon and other local towns. Michel was a welcoming and generous host. The house was well equiped and with all the cooking facilities you would wish for. The extensive garden and far reaching views were exceptional."

"Fabulous house on a quiet street, with parking, but only 5 minutes walk to the centre of town. The house was immaculate and had everything you could possibly need,very much a home from home. Balcony and sheltered private courtyard to sit out on. Our host Beatrice was very kind and helpful and couldn't do enough to make our stay memorable. Bergerac is a beautiful town with lots of historical interest and numerous places to eat. Would recommend a car to explore the surrounding areas as public transport limited. Would highly recommend"

"Charles is an excellent host with refined taste and an appreciation of traditional French style. The house is magnificent and is furnished and decorated with beautiful use of colour and texture and the antique furniture and paintings are delightful. Beautiful spacious and characterful bedroom and bathroom. My stay felt like being a guest at an eighteenth century house party and Charles' relaxed and friendly manner was wonderful. I was looking for a genuinely French experience rather than an impersonal hotel and both Charles and the lovely French couple who were also staying were happy to encourage my French speaking. A truly memorable experience and I hope to return. Thanks for a great stay Charles."
